“These are exactly the kind of all-ages, family centered recreational activities the KPFD wants to fund”, said Linda Berry-Maraist, former Chair of the KPFD. “They support the local economy and enhance the quality of life for the citizens of Kitsap County,” Linda added. 

EventFund grants are awarded through an application review process and focus on activities that generate economic support to local businesses and provide family centered entertainment and healthy recreational opportunities for Kitsap County residents. 

The Kitsap Public Facilities District is proud to announce the recipients of the Round II EventFund awards for 2008.

A total of $17,100 was awarded this year by the PFD to several organizations for the development and growth of youth sports events in Kitsap County, and especially for the use of the improved tournament quality facilities at the Kitsap Fairgrounds and Events Center complex.

Grants were made to:

District II Little League - $2,000
For support of Western Regional Big League Tournament at Kitsap Fairgrounds and Events Center complex.

North Kitsap Babe Ruth Baseball - $3,700
For support of the
2008 Pacific NW Regional 16-18 Tournament at the Kitsap Fairgrounds and Events Center complex.

For support of May Day Madness Tournament at Kitsap Fairgrounds.

Tracyton Public House Senior Softball - $2,350

WIAA District I Volleyball Tournament - $5,000
Underwrite marketing for Nov 2008 WIAA District Tournament

Olympic Premier Volleyball Club - $1,500
For support of up to seven volleyball tournaments in Events Center Pavilion.


The Kitsap Public Facilities District is proud to announce the recipients of the first EventFund awards for 2007. Grants were made to:

USSSA Special Sports Association - $2,500
For support of youth baseball events at Kitsap Fairgrounds.

Little League Baseball, Division II - $2,500
For promotion of 6-day tournament to be held July 19-24, 2007 at the
Fairgrounds,

Team Escapados - $2,000
For marketing of the WA State Cyclocross Championships in November 2007 at the Kitsap Fairgrounds

Silverdale Chamber of Commerce - $500
To the Military Fall Festival at the Kitsap SUN Pavilion,

North Kitsap Soccer Club - $1500
For promotion of the Viking Cup Tournament at the North Kitsap Regional Event Center in Poulsbo.


The Kitsap Public Facilities District is proud to announce the recipients of the first EventFund awards for 2006. Grants were made to:

1) Kyle Sizemore Memorial Baseball/Fast Pitch Tournament for $2500,
2) Kitsap County Table Tennis Invitational for $2500
3) Tracyton Public House Senior Softball Tournament for $2,000. 

Rex Weldon, spokesperson for the Tracyton Public House, said the KPFD EventFund  grant will help underwrite the First Annual Tracyton Public House Senior Softball Tournament. This is the second Senior Baseball tournament scheduled for Kitsap County bringing16 teams from around the country to the Kitsap Fairgrounds from June 23-24. Senior teams in the 50+, 60+ and 65+ age categories will play 42 games during the two-day tournament. 

The third annual Kyle Sizemore Memorial Baseball/Fast Pitch Tournament will be held on May 25-27 at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds. The tournament is named in honor of Kyle Sizemore, a former North Kitsap student and baseball player who was killed in 2005 by an under-age impaired driver. Proceeds from the tournament are donated to a Kyle Sizemore Memorial Scholarship fund and to the Kitsap Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

Jim Lovelace, President, and Ken Quitugua, one of the founders of the Kitsap County Table Tennis Club, said the grant be used to help underwrite The Kitsap Table Tennis Invitational which will be held at the Kitsap Sun Pavilion from September 7 - 9th. The tournament, which will host 150 players from 8 to 76 years of age, will be the first USATT sanctioned table tennis tournament held in Kitsap County. -more-
